You’ve waited so long to meet them. Those squishy cheeks and teeny toes have lived in your imagination for longer than you can remember.
And now here they are, this tiny precious human, making the sweetest little sighs as you snuggle them close.
But it doesn’t.
Before you know it, they’re growing out of their onesies and taking their first steps. And then they’re giving you a quick wave as they run into the classroom, backpack bigger than they are, and those teeny little toes are just a memory.
"Even though we have had professional photos done of all of our kids when they were born these are the only photos that have made me FEEL THINGS."

Having a newborn photoshoot in your home keeps it low-key, natural and relaxed. We’re getting a glimpse of real life right now, documenting the beauty of this time without the pressure of posing or forced smiles.
There’s no rush, no need to go anywhere, and you don’t need to have it all together. You and your partner might want to throw on some clean clothes or maybe move a bit of mess to one side of the room. But don’t worry if even that feels like more than you can manage right now!
We’ll take our time, and take breaks whenever you need. All you need to do is enjoy being together as a family, and I’ll be there to capture the moment.
In those initial 48 hours, everything about this is new. From the instant you hold them in your arms, your whole world changes.
A Fresh 48 session captures the wonder and joy of those early moments, and the looks of pure love in the parents’ eyes. Feelings too deep for words, preserved in an image.
It’s real, intimate and profoundly beautiful.
Fresh 48 sessions are usually held while you’re in the hospital, but I’m also happy to cater for home births or come to you if you’re leaving the hospital early.
If your newborn has big brothers and sisters, we can even time the session to document the very moment they meet the baby. It’s pretty special.
Once we’ve booked a session, I’ll keep plenty of gaps in my calendar around the due date. When the baby has arrived (and your life has changed forever), let me know and we’ll confirm a date and time.
If having a fixed date helps you feel more in control, that’s fine—let’s pick a date. We can always change it if we need to.
For newborn sessions, you’ll contact me to let me know you’re pregnant (woohoo!) and interested in a photoshoot.
We’ll arrange a time to chat through the details of what you’re looking for (or we can stick to email if you'd prefer). For newborn photography, we’ll discuss a tentative date but keep it flexible.
I’ll take the photos, you do the baby cuddles and loving gazes. We’ll keep it low-pressure and just enjoy the time.
About 2 weeks after the shoot, you’ll get a slideshow of images near completion–this is when you pick your favourites.
I’ll send you the final completed images, and they’re yours to download and enjoy (about 2 weeks after selection)!

"You were beyond patient with our uncooperative toddler, and still managed to capture the most beautiful, natural moments of our family just being together. You made us feel so relaxed and comfortable, and this really shows in the photos."

Siblings have a special bond, and welcoming a new baby into the family is a massive thing for big brothers and sisters. I love documenting the awe and fascination as they gaze at this tiny new person that’s suddenly a huge part of their lives.
So yes, siblings are absolutely welcome to be in the photoshoot! It’s basically a family photography session, where the baby is the main reason for scheduling the shoot but everyone is celebrated.
If the bigger kids are at school or kinder, we’ll work out a time that suits the whole family.
See more about why I love siblings in newborn photoshoots here.
Ah, if only we could predict the precise time and day of your little one’s arrival! But I know you can’t plan these things to the minute.
Book a session during your second trimester to make sure there’s plenty of space in my calendar, and we’ll pencil in a date. This will depend on whether you’re going with the Fresh 48 session while you’re still in hospital, or a longer shoot at home. Either way, we won’t be able to confirm the date until the baby decides it’s time, but that’s fine.
A session generally goes for 90 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your newborn and what they need. We’ll keep it baby-led, with plenty of time for feeds and nappy changes and whatever else comes up.
Fresh 48 sessions happen while you’re still in the hospital, but there’s no set rule for other newborn photography. Your baby is officially a newborn until they’re 12 weeks old, and we can get beautiful images at any stage.
Around 10 days to 2 weeks is the most common time—you’ve come home from hospital, and taken a breath, but you’re still in that tired-happy-snuggly newborn bubble. And the baby’s even sleepier than you are, so they’re usually pretty cooperative. Also, those first couple of weeks are usually within the partner’s parental leave period, so it’s easier to schedule.
At 6 weeks, they’re more aware of their surroundings and awake for longer, and we can capture some gorgeous interactive moments.
At 12 weeks, we might be lucky enough to get some gummy smiles and even a few giggles.
And remember, babies are still adorable after they graduate from newborn status, so it’s really never too late! You can also have a look at some of the packages on offer if you want multiple sessions to capture different ages and stages.
There isn’t a right or wrong age, but there are certain shots that can only happen at a specific time. For example, I’ve taken glorious photos of an older sibling meeting her brand new baby sister for the first time. Such an incredible moment to capture!
When the baby’s still tiny, you can get some lovely images of the family with the newborn in a parent’s arms. Or even being held by a big brother or sister (with parents on standby of course).
As they get a little bit older, you can have some beautiful images of siblings engaging with each other, laughing or playing peek-a-boo together.
There are magical moments to be found at any age.
My photography is natural, bringing out the beauty of your baby and the whole family without being over-the-top. So I don’t use props or awkward poses, and I don’t need the baby dressed in anything fancy. Just whatever you think looks cute, and maybe without super bright colours.
If you’re looking for some guidance, I’ve got suggestions for newborn photo outfits on my blog.
Yes, of course! And siblings are very welcome too. I love seeing the excitement and pride on the faces of big brothers and sisters. This is a huge moment for the whole family.
In those intense first few weeks, the last thing you need is to put pressure on yourself to dress up in your finery. Of course you want to look nice, but it’s also important that you feel comfortable.
There really aren’t any rules, but you might want to choose colours that work together without clashing horribly or being overly matching.
If you do want some help, feel free to check out the family outfit tips on the blog.
I know what those first few weeks are like, so please don’t worry. This is the time when having a shower is an achievement to be celebrated, so I’m well aware that housework is almost impossible.
There’s a certain amount of magic I can work with the way I shoot images, but I can also move some things out of the way if needed. And if you have managed to clear up a bit, I promise I won’t open any cupboards!
Please be kind to yourself—we want this session to be relaxed and real.
Not at all! Most newborn shoots are within the first 14 days, but even after that is still fine. Don’t rush!
Nope. They’re still so very tiny at 3 weeks! The only thing to consider is your partner’s parental leave, which might be finished by that time. That doesn’t have to be a big deal though, and we’ll work around a time that’s best for you.
No, it’s not. In fact, we can get some really lovely shots at this age when they’re a bit more interactive. It’s beautiful seeing the way they start to engage with parents, and it makes for some wonderful images.
Newborn lifestyle photography is capturing images of real life. With a newborn, it’s cuddles and smiles and looks of pure love, without any forced posing.
If you’re sick, or if I am, we’ll reschedule. No biggie.
And just so you know, I’m up to date with my vaccinations.
