There’s something special about your family. It’s the way you interact and show affection, your in-jokes and mannerisms. Those looks and gentle touches that speak a thousand words. And all those other things you can’t put your finger on that make your family wonderfully unique.
Based in Melbourne, I offer relaxed in-home and outdoor family photoshoots capture the connection you have, in a way that shows the real you. They’re pictures that represent this moment in time, and your favourite things about the age your kids are right now.
It’s those details you never want to forget, in beautiful images you’ll keep coming back to.
Home is the place of snuggles and giggles and everything in between. It’s where you have spontaneous dance parties and epic board game marathons, and it’s the only place you’re allowed to lick the cake mixture straight out of the bowl.
A family session at home is a little snippet of real, everyday life. Kids tend to feel more comfortable, plus there’s toys and snacks to keep everyone going.
If being at home surrounded by loved ones is your happy place, let’s do the photoshoot right there.
Prefer an outdoor session? Great! An outdoor space gives everyone (not just the kids!) a chance to run, climb, jump and splash in puddles. If you’re looking for images of flushed cheeks and natural beauty, let’s do an outdoor photoshoot.
We can meet at your favourite location, or you can come to my lovely leafy property in Hurstbridge.
A family photoshoot should be fun and easy.
Don’t be afraid to love on your kids or your partner as if no one else was there. Let yourself laugh with the little ones, play all the silly games, snuggle them close and run your fingers through their hair.
I’ll give gentle direction as needed. All I really want from you is that you allow yourself to be just that – yourself. If it feels natural and relaxed, it’s fine with me.
There doesn’t need to be a milestone or special occasion to have photos taken. Capturing your family as they are right now is reason enough. Time moves fast, and your kids change almost overnight.
From gummy grins to teenage eye rolls, every season of parenthood deserves to be remembered. So the best time to book a family photography session is, well, any time.
"We LOVED our family photo session! Delanie was so helpful and considerate of our family dynamic, and most importantly, the photos are incredible! We will treasure them for many years to come. If you're thinking of booking family photos with Delanie, DO IT!"

First, you get in touch to let me know you’re interested.
We’ll arrange a time to chat through the details of what you’re looking for. Or we can stick to email if you'd prefer.
We’ll meet up and have fun. I’ll take photos, you just hug your loved ones close and enjoy being together. There is no wrong way to do this!
About 2 weeks after the shoot, you’ll get a slideshow of images near completion–this is when you pick your favourites.
I’ll send you the final completed images, and they’re yours to download and enjoy (about 2 weeks after selection)!
Here's a quick step-by-step:
"Thank you so much for your brilliant work. I can't wait to put them on our walls and in books for the kids to destroy with love."

Looking to include grandparents, cousins, or even the whole extended crew? Extended family sessions are a beautiful way to celebrate the connections that span generations.
These sessions are warm, relaxed, and filled with laughter (and usually a bit of chaos in the best way). We capture combinations, candid moments, and all the love that binds you together.
We want photos that capture the real you, so there’s no need for special outfits you wouldn’t wear for any other occasion.
Most importantly, wear what’s comfortable. I can give you some guidance if you like, but there aren’t really any rules.
You can coordinate without being matchy-matchy. Or, you might want to embrace whatever stage you’re in right now, be it sparkly dresses and superhero outfits, band t-shirts or teenage angst.
Your session, your style.
Feel free to jump over to the what to wear for a family photoshoot post for more tips.
Your family, whatever that entails! That might mean parents and kids, fur babies, grandparents, or your chosen family.
And yes, blended or single-parent families, neurodiverse families and LGBTQIA+ families are absolutely welcome here.
That depends on the type of shoot. For indoor sessions, a 10am start time generally fits in well around sleep routines and energy levels. Outdoors, just before sunset is ideal (especially in those winter months when sunset isn’t way past their bedtime!).
But it also depends on what works best for your family. We can find a time that balances family routine and ideal lighting.
Each month has its advantages. Well, except maybe December, which is busy enough for my family without adding anything else into the mix.
Autumn and spring often have nice weather, and the sun sets earlier so it’s bedtime-friendly. Winter is great for cosy sessions, all rugged up and rosy-cheeked. And summer is all the good vibes of course, as long as we’re out of the heat and glare.
Hey, I’ve got a business to run – so of course the answer is whatever age they are now, then next year, and the year after that...
Really though, there’s no one right age for family photos. Whether they’re babies, teenagers or somewhere in between, your kids likely have some sweet habits you want to record now. Your relationships will change over time, and they’re worth documenting at any stage.
Your lounge room, bedrooms and anywhere there is beautiful light is where I am most likely to shoot.
Rooms looking lived in and loved is awesome, but if you could spend just a couple of minutes hiding clutter in a cupboard or junk room it can make a big difference. I promise not to look!
In-home or outdoor family sessions are 60-90 minutes. This gives us plenty of time to relax into the shoot and giggle out any nerves. There’s also time for all the combinations of parents and kids, and for some more intentional shots balanced with hanging out and playing together as if I’m not there (which is often when the best images are made!).
If you’ve got bigger kids of high school age or older, you’ve also got the option of a Short and Sweet 30-minute session at my beautiful property in Hurstbridge.
Have a look at my pricing page for more info on the different types and durations of sessions.
Lifestyle photography is just that: images of you, in your natural habitat and being your real selves. Think more hugs and games, less posing and ‘say cheese’.
It’s a snapshot of life, right now. And it’s as beautiful and wonderful as you are.
Yep, that happens. If you or the kids get sick (or if I do) we’ll reschedule. No problems.
And just so you know, I’m up to date with my vaccinations.
Drizzly, splashy photos of kids in gumboots and the whole family snuggled under an umbrella can be gorgeous. Sideways rain, mud sploshes or heavy downpours that might wreck the camera? Not so much.
We’ll reschedule if we need to.
