There’s no right or wrong reason to book a couples photoshoot. Maybe it’s for an engagement, an anniversary or a significant milestone. Maybe your grandma is begging for a nice photo to put on her wall. Or maybe you just got a great haircut?

Whatever the occasion, you have a love worth celebrating. There’s something special about the way you look at each other, something in the air when you’re together. If you want images that capture that, I’m here for it.

Couple photography doesn’t need a long dress flowing in the breeze. Maybe snuggling on the couch in comfy clothes feels more you. Or how about playing at the beach? The point is simply to create space for the two of you to pause and enjoy being together. It’s about documenting what makes your relationship wonderfully, uniquely yours.

I'll offer a little direction as required, but when you grab your loved one and hold them close we're on the way to creating some beautiful moments together. And what you’ll come away with are candid, real, and stunning images that celebrate your love.

You two are pretty cute together.
Let’s celebrate that with some photos.

Are you ready to pop the question? Eek! (That’s me, getting excited for you.)
Why not document your proposal, as it happens?

Proposing is a once-in-a-lifetime thing, and I know you want to get it just right. Proposal photos let you capture the tears, squeals and heart-exploding happiness of that special moment.

We’ll plan the shoot together in advance (don’t worry, I can keep a secret!), so all you’ll need to deal with is your nerves on the day. And when that moment happens, and you get the ‘yes!’ you’ve been waiting for, I’ll be there behind the camera.

Book the photoshoot, get down on one knee, pop the champagne. Easy as that! Right?

Proposal Photoshoots

Want to have some photos taken with your special someone, but think they might need a bit of convincing? Firstly, couples photography sessions with me don't require you to stand and smile at the camera till your cheeks hurt. That's not fun for anyone!

My sessions are about relaxing and laughing and simply enjoying the time spent with your loved one. But for someone who doesn't love the idea, make it a date night with a quick and relaxed photo session, then private picnic for two.

Wedding Photography

Do I photograph weddings? Small, intimate and wonderful weddings? Yes I certainly do!

I'd love to hear what you are planning for your special day!

FAQs

Sure, let’s talk terms.
- A proposal photoshoot captures the moment you ask ‘will you marry me?' It’s immediate and life-changing, and the camera picks up all the feels.
- An engagement shoot is when the question has already been asked and answered, and you’re celebrating that lovey-dovey ‘we’re getting married’ phase. The wedding is in the future, but the love is very real and very now.
- A couple session doesn’t need any other reason than the simple and beautiful fact that you love each other.
- A maternity shoot can also be a couples session, but with a bump. I love having partners in these sessions. (See more about maternity shoots here.)

Most couple sessions are 60-90 minutes. A Short and Sweet session, at my place in beautiful Hurstbridge, is only 30 minutes.

Whether it’s a proposal, engagement or any other couple photography session outdoors, the best time is the ‘golden hour’ just after sunrise or before sunset. Indoor sessions use sunlight differently, so we can be more flexible with times.

But if you’d really like an outdoor shoot and those times don’t suit, don’t worry. We can make beautiful images at almost any time!

When you’re proposing outdoors, just before sunset is probably best. You’ll want to have some blissful photos together after the question has been popped, so the actual proposal needs to be a bit earlier. As above though, timing is your choice: photography is about capturing the moment, and you get to choose when the moment happens.

I mean, what’s normal? But yeah, it is becoming more common to have a camera present at that moment. You’re only planning on doing it once in your life, so it makes a lot of sense to get some pictures.
If you want to pop the question with no one else around (not even a photographer so discreet she’ll blend into the background), you might prefer to book an engagement session while you’ve both got that post-proposal glow about you.

Most importantly, wear what you like! These are photos of you, so you want to look like… you. If you’re wanting to coordinate in some way, you could try to match a bit. But not too much!
You do want to make sure you don’t disappear into the background of your photos. So if we’re out in the bush, probably not tree-trunk brown and leafy green. And if those are the only two colours in your entire wardrobe, ah, let’s make it work.
Feel free to jump over to the what to wear post on my blog for more tips.
