Because it goes by too damn fast.
Except that last hour before the kids' bedtime. That's endless.
I've always had an obsession with photos. When I had my youngest daughter, I organised three photo shoots in six months. Yep.
At the time I couldn’t quite place why they didn’t feel entirely right to me. I mean - did I receive beautiful photos of my little one? Yep…but they didn’t quite feel like ‘us’. I knew I wanted something else…something that showed our own particular ‘us-ness’, so I set out to create the type of photography I’d wanted for myself.
I’ve had a long-time love of documenting the wonderfully ordinary - as well as the extraordinary details of life. I blogged, scrapbooked and photographed for many years before my children arrived, capturing my life, loves and travels but the urge to make photography my full-time gig came after a little metaphorical push from my husband whilst I was on maternity leave. To make a creative life MY life: mostly bliss!
And it’s a privilege to do what I do. To observe and capture love is a pretty brilliant job to have.

As mothers, we often leave ourselves out of photographs with our family because we’re the ones taking the picture. When you’re actually in the picture with your family —and especially with your children — you’re offered a glimpse into how your children see you, too.
That your family doesn't need to look like mine to be wonderful. #loveislove
There is no better time for photos than now. In the years to come your children will be looking at the smiles and love in these captured moments. They don't see those imperfections on which we judge ourselves.

THE MOMENT MY PLANE TAKES OFF AND I'M ON HOLIDAY
THis is what I do
Families relaxing, laughing, loving on each other.
That's what I love to capture.
In December 2018 (with a 5 month old baby!) my family moved to our dream home in Hurstbridge, to the north-east of Melbourne. We'd been looking for years already, but as we pulled up at the 1970s timber and mud brick buildings, designed by Alistair Knox, we fell in love. On 10 acres of
bush, the property certainly keeps my husband busy but provides a gorgeous natural and private option for your photo session. My studio and (perpetually messy) office is housed in a separate building full of light, wood beams and the perfect amount of character.
You were beyond patient with our uncooperative toddler, and still managed to capture the most beautiful, natural moments of our family just being together. You made us feel so relaxed and comfortable, and this really shows in the photos.
TAMARA
Oh my word, Delanie! What a beautiful set of images you have taken for our family! Thank you so much for them. I actually got quite emotional looking at the breastfeeding ones in particular because, as I think I was telling you on the day, it is a really special part of my motherhood journey.
DANIELLE
Delanie captured beautiful moments of us with our son throughout our session. She was very patient as he wasn’t being too cooperative having his photo taken! She was able to capture moments that included his cheeky personality and we absolutely loved our photos... Throughout the process she was very prompt and professional. I would 100% recommend her to others. Can’t wait to use her again in the future.
