Newborn Photography Session // Big Sister, Baby Brother

Diamond Creek Newborn and Sibling-6

This Diamond Creek family weren't so interested in the traditional newborn photos - baby looking all sweet curled up in a wrap - so much as photos of them loving on their baby boy. That's my kind of photo shoot! Families being themselves, relaxing in front of the camera, snuggling with their loved ones. They're the photos that mean so much to me personally, and they're the kind of photos that I want to give my clients.

I love that photo of Mum holding her baby boy with his wonderful podgy baby rolls and the sweetest little dimples on his bottom. Big sister was adorable too, adapting to life with a new little person in the family.

Family Photography Session // Her Cute Little Ponytail

Melbourne Family Photographer-7

I've known the lovely Miss Mila since she was only 12 weeks old and she has had that impressive head of hair the entire time. That little ponytail is just adorable.

Although I have no doubt she can keep her parents on their toes, Mila has an air of calm about her, of patience and observation. It was wonderful spending time focusing on her and capturing some images of that special relationship with mum and dad.

Extended Family Photography Session // Complete with Mimosas

Extended Family Photographer-7

After asking for an updated family photo for quite a while, a gift voucher for a family photo session was waiting under the Christmas tree for this lovely Mum and Grandma. Her daughter had even prearranged a date and time with all her siblings signed up to be there.

It was a wonderfully relaxed photo session, with laughs and teasing between them. We ran through the combinations of couples and groups then returned inside where there were mimosas scones with jam and cream to tide everyone over until the full hot breakfast was ready.

You could just sense how much Mum enjoyed having all her loved ones back home, gathered in the kitchen. With my little one being only 1 year old I have a while to wait, but standing there watching them together I kept thinking I want to have this one day. That feeling of home. Of welcoming and gathering and producing something together. Complete with misosas.

Family Photography Session // Gorgeous Curls for Days

Bundoora Family Photographer-1

Just look at those glorious curls! There is no doubting who these two young cuties belong too. :)

It was a wet and miserable morning when we met up in the park, although the rain cooperated and cleared with perfect timing. A fitting Melbourne summer's day for this family who'd previously abandoned us to live in warmer climes up north! Matt and my husband have been friends since high school although it had been a few years since I'd last seen them; impressing on the dance floor at our wedding.

With hugs and cuddles and giggles and grins, it was lovely to capture a moment in time for this family of four.

Family Photography Session // Imperfectly Wonderful Reality of Life

Melbourne Family photographer (15)

I'm quickly learning the challenge entailed in taking a family photo when two young children are involved. With one child, patience, encouragement and some giggles will generally provide that moment of everyone smiling at the camera. Two young children though, looking and smiling at the same time....

We might get that 'everyone smile at the camera' shot or we might not, but we're certain to get something even better.

The imperfectly wonderful reality of life and love and family. Chaos and wriggles and giggles.

But always the love.

Family Photography Session // Full of Brotherly Love

Melbourne family photographer (7)

This photo is a favourite of their Mum's. She has a sent me a photo of it, printed out large on canvas and up on the wall. That gives me all the feelings! It's such a privilege to be invited into people's lives to capture precious moments for them, and to see them cherish and enjoy the photos is unbelievably wonderful.

She has a shoe collection worthy of admiration; he likes dinosaurs and Pokemon. I seriously impressed identifying Pikachu and was even able to coax some genuine giggles.

Family Photography Session // Unicorn Girl

20160929-IMG_6467

After a rainy, dismal start to the morning, the sky cleared in perfect timing for this photo shoot in the park with Unicorn Girl and her parents. Unicorn Girl (that's her super hero name) was an incredibly energetic and enthusiastic photo subject until, in true 6 year old style, she'd had enough and was done.

The swings and slide beckoned. :)

Surely all trips to the park should finish with icecream!
